The SANDVIK COROMANT 7564465 is a solid carbide milling insert in the APMT series, designed for use in shoulder and face milling applications. It carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN under manufacturer grade 4340, placing it in the P40, M40, and K40 material grades. The parallelogram insert shape (APMT 16 04 08-M) features a positive rake geometry, an 11-degree relief angle, two cutting edges, and a 0.80 mm corner radius. At 4.76 mm thick and 9.25 mm wide, with a maximum depth of cut of 16.00 mm, this insert handles interrupted cuts and general-purpose milling in a single-sided configuration.
This insert is intended for milling steel, stainless steel, and cast iron in both roughing and semi-finishing operations. It fits SANDVIK COROMANT R216 cutter bodies and is compatible with the WHX chip breaker geometry, which controls chip flow during moderate-to-heavy cutting passes. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and ramping cuts in production machining environments. The screw-in holding method ensures secure clamping in the toolholder pocket. The ANSI and ISO code APMT 16 04 08-M 4340 allows direct cross-referencing with toolholder specifications.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT R216 series cutter bodies. ANSI and ISO designation APMT 16 04 08-M 4340 provides direct toolholder compatibility reference. Suitable for primary workpiece materials coded P (steel), M (stainless steel), and K (cast iron).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians using the screw-in holding method. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure for insert screws. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or burrs before installing a new insert to ensure full, even contact.
