The SANDVIK COROMANT 7564412 is a solid carbide milling insert engineered for high-performance face and shoulder milling operations. It carries a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN under manufacturer grade 4340, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection across a wide range of cutting conditions. The insert measures 11.00 mm wide and 6.33 mm thick, seats in an R390 cutter body, and is held in place by a screw-clamp system. It features a positive rake angle of 5 degrees and a corner radius of 3.10 mm, delivering a controlled chip formation suitable for medium to heavy stock removal. Qualified machinists and tooling technicians install and index this insert during scheduled cutter maintenance.
This insert is designed for use in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron machining applications, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, and K. The PM chip breaker geometry suits a wide range of feed rates and depths of cut, with a maximum depth of cut reaching 0.6299 inches. It is well-suited for both roughing and semi-finishing passes on CNC machining centers and milling machines in manufacturing and job shop environments. The right-hand configuration and 90-degree included angle make it compatible with R390 square-shoulder milling cutters operating on horizontal and vertical spindles.

Installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct Torx or hex key at the recommended seating torque specified by the cutter body manufacturer - do not overtighten the clamp screw, as this can crack the insert or distort the pocket seat. Inspect the cutter pocket seat and clamp screw threads for wear or debris before seating the insert. Index or replace all inserts in a cutter body as a matched set to maintain balanced cutting loads.
