The SANDVIK COROMANT 7564385 is a single-sided, right-hand parallelogram milling insert designed for use in R390 series face and shoulder milling cutters. Built from solid carbide and coated with a CVD-applied TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN multilayer stack under manufacturer grade 4330, this insert delivers consistent performance across steel and cast iron applications. It carries a 90-degree included angle with a positive 10-degree rake and a corner-rounded cutting edge style. The insert measures 0.1875 inches thick with a 0.3780-inch inscribed circle and provides two cutting edges per insert. It is held in the cutter body by screw clamping and is suited for installation by machinists and tool-room technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is intended for milling operations on steel and cast iron workpieces in both roughing and semi-finishing contexts. The PH chip breaker geometry supports positive-rake cutting action and chip control at moderate to high feed rates. The R390 series designation aligns this insert with shoulder milling and ramping applications where a 90-degree cutting geometry is required. Material grade classifications P30, M30, and K30 reflect suitability for a broad range of ferrous and cast materials. ANSI and ISO codes for this insert are both listed as R390-17 04 16M-PH 4330.
Designed for use with R390 series milling cutter bodies. ANSI and ISO designation R390-17 04 16M-PH 4330 confirms fitment in any R390-compatible pocket accepting insert size code 170416.
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians following standard insert-change procedures. The machine spindle must be brought to a full stop and locked out before any insert exchange. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to loosen and remove the clamping screw; avoid over-torquing the replacement screw, as this can crack the carbide body. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface and shim for wear or debris before seating the new insert.
