Product Description

The SANDVIK COROMANT 7564370 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for use in R390 series face milling and shoulder milling cutter bodies. It carries a three-layer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN under manufacturer grade 4340, targeting steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpiece materials. The insert is parallelogram-shaped with a 90-degree included angle, a positive rake geometry with a 25-degree rake angle, and a PM chip breaker. It measures 3.59 mm thick and 6.80 mm wide with a 1.60 mm corner radius, making it well suited for moderate to heavy roughing and semi-finishing passes in P40, M40, and K40 material groups.

This insert fits R390 and M-32 cutter series toolholders and is intended for CNC milling operations in production machining environments. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and ramping in ferrous materials. The right-hand, single-sided design with a screw-in holding method suits high-throughput setups where consistent edge geometry and reliable chip control are required. The insert size code is 11T316 and the full ANSI/ISO designation is R390-11 T3 16M-PM 4340, which can be used to cross-reference compatible toolholders and confirm fitment in existing setups.

Key Features

  • Three-layer CVD coating: TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN for wear resistance and thermal protection
  • Positive rake angle of 25 degrees reduces cutting forces in steel and stainless steel
  • PM chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation in P40, M40, and K40 material groups
  • Corner radius of 1.60 mm (0.0630 inches) reduces edge chipping at entry and exit
  • Screw-in insert holding method ensures secure, repeatable seating in the pocket
  • Right-hand, single-sided insert with 2 cutting edges per insert

Compatibility

Compatible with R390 and M-32 series cutter bodies. Full ANSI and ISO designation R390-11 T3 16M-PM 4340 should be used to confirm fitment with the toolholder. Insert size code is 11T316.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the insert screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Always index or replace inserts with the spindle stopped and machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 0.3937 inches stated for this insert geometry.
