The SANDVIK COROMANT 7357870 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill designed for precision hole-making in metalworking applications. This insert-style drill accepts a replaceable carbide tip with an included angle of 142 degrees and a cutting diameter of 17.46mm (0.6874 inches). The tip features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection during high-speed drilling. It belongs to the CoroDrill 870 series and carries manufacturer grade 4334 with a PM insert geometry. The part is sold individually and is intended for use in CNC machining centers and drill press setups where repeatable tip replacement reduces tooling downtime.
This replaceable tip drill is suited for production machining environments where consistent bore diameter and surface finish are required. The CoroDrill 870 platform uses a secure tip-to-shank interface that allows tip changes without removing the drill body from the spindle. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling in steel, stainless, and cast iron workpieces. The PM geometry supports stable chip formation across a range of feed and speed conditions. This tool is appropriate for shops running moderate to high production volumes where carbide tip replacement cost is managed separately from the drill body.
Designed as a replaceable tip for CoroDrill 870 series drill bodies with insert seat size 17. Confirm body compatibility by matching the insert seat size and series designation before ordering.
Installation is performed by machining technicians or CNC setup personnel. Ensure the drill body is fully retracted and the spindle is locked before seating or removing the replaceable tip. Use the correct torx or drive key specified for the CoroDrill 870 tip interface — do not use substitute tooling that may damage the tip seat. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before installing a new tip to ensure proper seating and runout.
