The SANDVIK COROMANT 7357869 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill engineered for high-performance hole-making in demanding workpiece materials. Based on the CoroDrill 870 platform, this insert-style drill accepts a replaceable carbide tip seated in a size 17 insert seat, allowing the body to be reused across multiple tip changes. The tip carries an AlTiCrN PVD coating applied to a fine grain carbide substrate in manufacturer grade 2334, providing heat resistance and edge retention when drilling stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The drill point features a 142-degree included angle with a standard point type and regular helical flute geometry across two flutes.
This drill is intended for solid drilling operations in ferrous and high-temperature alloy applications, classified under ISO material groups M and S. Typical use is in CNC machining centers where the CoroDrill 870 shank body is already in use and only the replaceable tip requires replacement. The 17.46mm cutting diameter makes it well suited for close-tolerance bores in aerospace components, fluid system bodies, and structural parts machined from stainless or titanium alloys. The clamp-style insert holding method secures the tip mechanically without adhesive.
Designed for use with CoroDrill 870 series replaceable tip drill bodies accepting insert seat size 17. ISO number 870-1746-17-MM 2334 identifies the exact seat size and geometry pairing. Compatible primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as specified by ISO material codes M and S.
Replaceable tip drills of this type are installed and serviced by machinists or tooling technicians on CNC machining centers. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool change confirmed safe before seating or removing the carbide tip. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or clamp key for the CoroDrill 870 holding mechanism — do not overtighten by hand or substitute fasteners. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating a new tip, as contamination affects runout and tip retention.
