The SANDVIK COROMANT 7357838 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill from the CoroDrill 870 series, designed for precision hole-making in metalworking applications. It features a 16.70mm (0.6575 inch) cutting diameter, a 142-degree included angle, and a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process. The PM insert geometry is engineered for controlled chip formation and consistent performance across a range of workpiece materials. This drill tip is intended for use with compatible CoroDrill 870 drill bodies and is installed by machinists and tooling specialists in production and job-shop environments.
The CoroDrill 870 replaceable tip system is suited for drilling operations in CNC machining centers handling steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The replaceable tip design reduces tooling cost per hole by allowing the carbide tip to be swapped without replacing the entire drill body. The PM geometry and TiAlN finish make this tip appropriate for medium to high cutting speeds in both through-hole and blind-hole applications. It is commonly used in aerospace, automotive, and general metalworking production settings.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroDrill 870 series drill bodies accepting insert seat size 16. Verify body compatibility and seat size before ordering.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the drill body and tip seat are clean and free of chips or debris before seating the tip. Follow the tool manufacturer torque guidelines for the retention screw as specified in the CoroDrill 870 documentation. Confirm machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tips.
