The SANDVIK COROMANT 7101121 is a solid carbide milling insert in grade 1130, designed for high-performance face and shoulder milling operations. It carries an AlTiCrN coating applied via PVD process, which delivers hard, wear-resistant surface properties suited for demanding cutting environments. The insert is square in shape, right-hand cut, with a positive 10-degree rake angle and a corner-rounded cutting edge style. Thickness measures 0.2402 inches (6.10 mm), and the inscribed circle diameter is 0.7087 inches (18.00 mm). Each insert provides four usable cutting edges, making it an efficient choice for production environments where tool cost per edge matters. Installation and tool changes are handled by licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians.
This insert is rated for use across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metal, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, N, S, and H. It is classified under material grade P30, M15, and N15. The PM chip breaker geometry supports stable chip control across these material groups. Typical applications include shoulder milling, face milling, and ramping operations on machining centers and CNC milling platforms in both production shops and job shops handling mixed-material workloads.
Designed for use with R245 series cutter bodies. ANSI and ISO code: R245-18 T6 M-PM 1130. Insert size code 18T6. Compatible cutter series: R245.
Insert replacement and tooling changes should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key torque wrench to seat the clamping screw — do not overtighten or use impact tools on the insert screw. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw threads for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Rotate to an unused cutting edge before replacing the full insert to maximize per-edge tool life.
