The SANDVIK COROMANT 7101108 is a solid carbide square milling insert designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining applications. Manufactured to grade 1130 and coated with AlTiCrN via a PVD process, this insert delivers thermal resistance and wear protection when cutting steel and hard materials. It features a negative rake angle of 30 degrees, a corner radius of 0.80 mm (0.0315 inches), and a double-sided configuration that provides 8 usable cutting edges per insert. The insert is held in place by a screw-type clamping method and is intended for installation by machinists and tooling technicians in CNC milling operations.
This insert is suited for face milling and shoulder milling operations in materials classified under ISO material grades P30, M15, and N15, which correspond primarily to steel and hard material workpiece types. It is compatible with Sandvik Coromant 345-series cutter bodies and carries the ANSI and ISO designation 345R-1305E-PL 1130. The PL chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation across a range of cutting depths up to 0.2362 inches. Typical use cases include production machining on vertical and horizontal machining centers in both job-shop and high-volume environments.
Designed for use with Sandvik Coromant 345-series milling cutter bodies. Insert size code 1305. ANSI and ISO designation: 345R-1305E-PL 1130. Right-hand cutting orientation.
This insert should be seated and torqued using the appropriate Torx or hex key specified for the 345-series cutter body; refer to the cutter body documentation for fastener specifications. Power down and lock out all machine spindles before changing inserts. Inspect the cutter body pocket seating surface for debris or damage before installation to ensure proper insert contact and edge runout. Dispose of worn inserts according to applicable facility and local regulations for carbide tooling.
