The SANDVIK COROMANT 7101033 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI and ISO designation N331.1A-08 45 08H-WL1130. It belongs to the N331.1A series and is designed for shoulder and face milling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert features a rectangular shape with a 90-degree included angle, four cutting edges, and a positive rake geometry that reduces cutting forces. The AlTiCrN coating is applied via PVD process, providing thermal resistance and wear protection during demanding cuts. Thickness measures 4.45 mm (0.1752 inches) and width measures 9.5 mm (0.3740 inches). The WL chip breaker geometry supports stable chip control in general and finishing milling applications.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering material grades P30, M15, and N15. Typical applications include shoulder milling, slot milling, and ramping operations on machining centers and CNC mills in both production shop and job-shop environments. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard toolholder setups without left- or right-hand restrictions. The WL chip breaker is optimized for light to medium depths of cut, making this insert a practical choice for finishing and semi-finishing passes on a variety of part geometries.
Compatible with the SANDVIK COROMANT L331.52C cutter series. The insert uses screw-type holding and is sized to the 084508 insert size code per ANSI and ISO standards.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key for the clamping screw as specified by the toolholder manufacturer, and inspect the insert seat and screw threads for debris or damage before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 0.3031 inches to avoid insert overload or premature failure.
