Product Description

The SANDVIK COROMANT 7101029 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI and ISO designation N331.1A-04 35 05H-WL1130. It belongs to the N331.1A series and is designed for shoulder milling and face milling operations in CNC machining centers. The insert features a rectangular shape with a 90-degree included angle, four cutting edges, and a positive rake geometry. An AlTiCrN coating applied via PVD process provides heat resistance and wear protection across a broad range of workpiece materials. At 3.50 mm thick and 9.50 mm wide, this insert fits the N331.32 cutter series and uses a screw-in holding method.

This insert is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material grades P30, M15, and N15. It is a single-sided, neutral-hand insert, making it appropriate for both climb and conventional milling setups. The WL chip breaker geometry is engineered to handle varying depths of cut up to 0.1811 inches, making it applicable in roughing and semi-finishing passes on general production and aerospace-type components. It is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in mill toolholders compatible with the N331.32 cutter body platform.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide substrate with PVD AlTiCrN coating for extended tool life across multiple workpiece materials
  • Four cutting edges per insert for increased cost-per-edge value
  • Positive rake geometry reduces cutting forces and heat generation
  • WL chip breaker supports consistent chip evacuation across a range of cut depths
  • 90-degree included angle enables true shoulder milling capability
  • Corner radius of 0.0197 inches reduces edge chipping and improves surface finish at corners

Compatibility

Designed for use with the SANDVIK COROMANT N331.32 cutter series. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards under the designation N331.1A-04 35 05H-WL1130. Insert size code 043505.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the torque specification listed in the cutter body documentation — do not estimate torque by feel. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface for debris or damage before installing a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
