The SANDVIK COROMANT 7101022 is a solid carbide milling insert in the L331.1A series, designed for high-performance shoulder and face milling operations. It carries a PVD-applied AlTiCrN coating that resists heat and wear during demanding cuts. The insert is rectangular in shape, left-hand orientation, with a positive rake geometry and a corner-rounded cutting edge style. At 4.95 mm thick and 11.50 mm wide, it fits standard L331.1A-compatible toolholders. With two cutting edges and a screw-type holding method, this insert is a direct fit for machinists running production runs on CNC milling machines across a range of workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials — covering ISO material groups P, M, N, S, and H. It is appropriate for both light and moderate depths of cut, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.4213 inches. The WL chip breaker geometry controls chip flow during these operations. Typical applications include precision shoulder milling on CNC machining centers in aerospace, general manufacturing, and automotive production environments. The manufacturer grade 1130 and material grade P30, M15, and N15 designations guide insert selection for specific workpiece and cutting condition pairings.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT L331.1A-series milling toolholders. ANSI and ISO designation L331.1A-11 50 63H-WL1130 confirms fitment. Insert size code 115063 applies to standard indexable milling cutter bodies requiring this series.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using a torx or hex key appropriate for the toolholder screw specification. Power down and lock out the spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket before tightening the clamping screw to avoid insert rocking or chipping on first contact. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or wear before seating a new insert.
