The SANDVIK COROMANT 7101002 is a solid carbide milling insert in a pentagonal (419 series) shape, designed for use in rotating milling cutters on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Manufactured to grade 1130 with an AlTiCrN coating applied via PVD process, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert measures 0.5315 inches inscribed circle diameter and 0.2154 inches thick, with a 0.0315-inch corner radius for controlled edge engagement. It features a positive rake geometry and a PM chip breaker, supporting efficient chip evacuation in both roughing and finishing passes.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material grades P30, M15, and N15. The 419R series compatibility and right-hand cutting orientation make it a direct fit for Sandvik Coromant 419 cutter bodies. It is used in production machining environments where consistent tool life and reliable chip control across multiple material types are required. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and profile milling operations on both ferrous and non-ferrous components.

Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians using the appropriate Torx or hex key for the clamping screw — consult the cutter body documentation for the correct screw size and tightening procedure. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket for debris, damage, or wear before seating the new insert, as a contaminated pocket can cause premature edge failure or runout issues. Handle solid carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edges prior to use.
