The SANDVIK COROMANT 7100985 is a round solid carbide milling insert in the R300 series, designed for use in high-performance indexable milling cutters. Manufactured to grade 1130 with a PVD-applied AlTiCrN coating, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of workpiece materials. It features a 0.5 inches inscribed circle, a thickness of 0.1563 inches (3.97 mm), and a positive rake angle of 10 degrees. With 6 cutting edges per insert and a rounded cutting edge style, it is built for productive face and pocket milling. ANSI and ISO designations are R300-1340E-PL 1130. This insert is installed and indexed by qualified machinists and toolroom professionals.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It fits the RA300 cutter series and is appropriate for both roughing and finishing applications where a round insert geometry is specified. The PL chip breaker geometry supports stable cutting action across ISO material groups P, M, N, S, and H. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and copy milling on CNC machining centers in job shop and production environments. The neutral hand designation makes it usable in standard toolholder configurations without a left- or right-hand restriction.
Designed for use with the RA300 cutter series. ANSI and ISO designation R300-1340E-PL 1130 applies. Compatible with workpiece materials coded P (steel), M (stainless steel), N (non-ferrous), S (superalloys and titanium), and H (hard material) per ISO material classification.
Installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or indexing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer to achieve proper clamping torque on the insert screw. Inspect the insert pocket and screw threads for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
