The SANDVIK COROMANT 7100916 is a solid carbide round milling insert designed for high-performance metal removal in professional machining applications. Manufactured to grade 1130 with a PVD-applied AlTiCrN coating, this insert delivers thermal resistance and edge durability across a range of workpiece materials. The insert features a 0.5 inches inscribed circle, a thickness of 0.1875 inches (4.76 mm), and a corner radius of 0.25 inches (6.35 mm). With 8 cutting edges and a positive rake geometry, it maximizes productivity per insert and reduces cutting forces during milling operations. It is held in the cutter body by a screw-clamp method and carries a neutral hand designation.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It falls within ISO/ANSI material grades P30, M15, and N15, making it appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes. The RCHT series insert is compatible with cutter bodies in the N331.32, R331.32, and RA200 series. It features a PL chip breaker geometry and a rounded cutting edge style. Typical applications include face milling and shoulder milling on CNC machining centers in industrial and tool shop environments. The insert conforms to ANSI and ISO standards with the catalog designation RCHT 13 04 00-PL 1130.
Compatible with cutter body series N331.32, R331.32, and RA200 as stated by the manufacturer. Insert size code 130400 corresponds to ANSI and ISO designation RCHT 13 04 00-PL 1130.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician using the screw-clamp insert holding method standard for RCHT-style pockets. Ensure the cutter body is clean and the pocket seating surface is free of debris before seating the insert. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Do not exceed the cutter body maximum RPM rating or the insert maximum depth of cut specification for the workpiece material being machined.
