The SANDVIK COROMANT 7081113 is a solid carbide turning insert in the T-Max P series, designed for steel turning operations in CNC and manual lathe applications. It carries an ANSI insert code of CNMG866 and ISO code CNMG 25 09 24-PR 4335. The insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides a hard wear-resistant surface with a tough carbide substrate underneath. With an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 1-inch inscribed circle, and a 3/32-inch corner radius, this insert is sized for moderate to heavy material removal. Grade 4335 is characterized as a steel-grade carbide offering a balance of moderate wear resistance and high toughness.
This insert is used in turning centers and lathes for primary workpiece materials classified as ISO P steels. The PR chip breaker geometry is rated for roughing and medium machining operations, making it appropriate for aggressive passes on carbon steel, alloy steel, and similar P-category metals. The neutral hand orientation suits standard right-hand and left-hand tool holders. It is typically installed by CNC machinists and tool-and-die professionals in production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use in T-Max P series turning tool holders accepting CNMG866 inserts with clamp or pin clamping. Primary workpiece material designation is ISO P steel. Confirm tool holder clamping style and pocket tolerance code M before installation.
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Verify that the tool holder pocket is clean and free of chips before indexing to a fresh cutting edge. Secure the clamp or pin fastener to the tool holder manufacturer's specified procedure. Follow applicable shop safety practices and machine tool manufacturer guidelines during setup.
