The SANDVIK COROMANT 7080893 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on steel workpieces. Identified by ISO code WNMG 08 04 12-PR 4335, this insert features an 80-degree trigon shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle. The multilayer CVD coating stack of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN delivers wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and interrupted steel cuts. With six usable cutting edges per insert and a PR chip breaker geometry, it is suited for medium to finishing passes in production turning environments. Licensed HVAC technicians and machinists running CNC or manual lathes are the primary users.
This insert is applied in turning operations on steel components, covering a broad range of medium-duty to finishing applications. The PR chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation at moderate depths of cut and feed rates. Insert thickness is 0.1875 inches (3/16 inch) with a 3/64-inch corner radius (0.0469 inches decimal), making it appropriate for operations where fine surface finish and edge integrity on steel are required. It is commonly installed in T-Max P series toolholders using clamp or pin holding methods.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series toolholders accepting WNMG 08 04 insert size code inserts. Holding method is clamp or pin. Confirmed primary workpiece material is steel (ISO material code P).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians on CNC or manual turning centers. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp screw specified for the toolholder to avoid insert movement or fracture during cutting. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing a new edge.
