The SANDVIK COROMANT 7080730 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for single-point turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert carries an ANSI code of SCMT32.52 and ISO code SCMT09T308, indicating a 90-degree square shape with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and a 1/32 inch corner radius. It features a CVD-applied TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN multilayer coating for wear resistance and thermal protection. The PR chip breaker geometry is suited for roughing and medium machining operations on steel workpieces. Installed by machinists and CNC operators, this insert is held in place by a screw-clamp toolholder system.
This insert is intended for steel cutting applications requiring moderate wear resistance combined with toughness, rated under ISO material group P. The PR chip breaker supports roughing and medium machining passes, making it appropriate for general turning of carbon steels and alloy steels. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard right-hand or symmetrical toolholders within the CoroTurn 107 system. With four cutting edges per insert, it delivers cost-effective tool life in production turning environments.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamp toolholders that accept SCMT insert geometry. Confirm toolholder pocket specifications match ANSI insert code SCMT32.52 or ISO code SCMT09T308 before installation.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Disengage the machine spindle and ensure the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing or indexing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to torque the clamp screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified value as indicated in the toolholder documentation. Inspect the insert seat and chip pocket for debris before seating the insert to ensure accurate positioning and consistent tool life.
