The SANDVIK COROMANT 7080696 is a CCMT-style turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on steel workpieces. It belongs to the CoroTurn 107 series and carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN over a solid carbide substrate, grade 4335. The 80-degree diamond insert shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry suited for general-purpose and finishing passes. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 5/32-inch insert thickness, and a 1/32-inch corner radius, this insert fits standard CCMT toolholders using screw clamping. Neutral hand orientation makes it usable in a wide range of turning setups. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators are the primary installers.
This insert is intended for steel turning applications where consistent surface finish and tool life are priorities. The PM chip breaker geometry is engineered for medium finishing to light roughing cuts on low- to medium-alloy steels, corresponding to ISO material group P. It is well suited for both horizontal CNC turning centers and manual lathes where a screw-retained CCMT insert pocket is present. The CoroTurn 107 series is a common platform in production and job-shop environments handling shaft, flange, and bore work on ferrous materials.
Designed as a screw-retained replacement insert for CCMT toolholders in the CoroTurn 107 series. ISO designation CCMT 09 T3 08-PM 4335 can be used to cross-reference compatible toolholder pockets. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO code P). Specific compatible toolholder model numbers were not provided in the product data.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key torque driver to secure the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and edge geometry.
