The SANDVIK COROMANT 7080695 is a CCMT-style turning insert engineered for precision metal cutting in CNC lathe and turning center applications. Part of the CoroTurn 107 series, this solid carbide insert carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides wear resistance and thermal protection during continuous or interrupted steel turning. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/64-inch corner radius, and a PM chip breaker geometry optimized for steel. With two cutting edges per insert and a neutral hand orientation, it suits a wide range of external turning and profiling operations.
This insert is designed for primary use on steel workpieces, consistent with the P-grade classification. It is suited for medium to finishing passes on low-alloy and general-purpose steels in both production and job-shop environments. The PM chip breaker geometry controls chip flow across a broad range of feeds and depths of cut, making it a practical choice for operators running varied steel turning cycles on manual or CNC equipment. A licensed machinist or CNC programmer typically selects and installs this insert as part of a qualified toolholder setup.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders that accept CCMT 09 T3 04 inserts with screw clamping. Confirm holder compatibility using the ISO code CCMT 09 T3 04-PM 4335 before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing any cutting insert. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat and torque the clamp screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification; do not over-tighten, as this can fracture carbide. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris and verify correct seating before resuming cutting operations.
