Product Description

The SANDVIK COROMANT 7080694 is a solid carbide turning insert from the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for single-point turning operations on steel workpieces. It carries an ANSI insert code of CCMT21.52 and an ISO code of CCMT 06 02 08-PM 4335. The insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which delivers moderate wear resistance combined with high toughness. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, 1/4-inch inscribed circle, and 1/32-inch corner radius make it well suited for roughing and medium machining passes. Installation and tool setup are performed by licensed machinists or toolroom technicians.

This insert is intended for steel machining applications classified under ISO material group P. The PM chip breaker geometry is optimized for roughing and medium machining operations where controlled chip evacuation and consistent edge life are priorities. It is a neutral-hand insert, meaning it is not handed left or right, which simplifies toolholder selection. Typical applications include external and internal diameter turning on CNC lathes and turning centers running steel components in both job-shop and production environments.

Key Features

  • CVD-coated with TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN for wear resistance and thermal stability on steel
  • 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape provides a strong cutting edge with good approach-angle flexibility
  • PM chip breaker geometry suited for roughing and medium machining passes
  • Neutral hand orientation compatible with standard CCMT-style toolholders
  • Screw-held clamping method for secure, repeatable insert indexing
  • 2 cutting edges per insert for cost-effective indexing

Compatibility

Designed for use in CCMT-style toolholders compatible with the CoroTurn 107 series. Fits holders accepting a CCMT 06 02 08 insert with screw-held clamping. Intended for primary use on steel workpieces in external and internal turning applications.

Installation Notes

Insert replacement and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle stopped and all motion axes locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the manufacturer-specified torque wrench and clamping screw for the CoroTurn 107 toolholder to avoid over-tightening the insert screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Verify tool offset compensation in the CNC control after each index or insert change.
