The SANDVIK COROMANT 6906941 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for high-performance face and shoulder milling operations. Manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards under the designation R390-11 T3 08E-PLW 1130, this insert features an AlTiCrN coating applied via PVD process, delivering strong thermal resistance and wear protection in demanding cutting environments. The parallelogram insert shape with a wiper cutting edge geometry produces superior surface finish at higher feed rates. Key dimensions are 11.00 mm wide and 3.97 mm thick, with a corner radius of 0.80 mm. Installation is performed by machining professionals and tooling specialists.
This insert is suited for use in R390 and M-32 cutter series toolholders. It addresses a wide range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material grades P30, M15, and N15. With a maximum depth of cut of 10.00 mm and a right-hand insert orientation, it fits production milling scenarios in both general machining shops and high-volume manufacturing environments. The PLW chip breaker geometry supports stable chip control across these material groups.
Compatible with R390 and M-32 cutter series toolholders as specified by the manufacturer. Insert size code 11T308 conforms to ANSI and ISO standards for indexable milling inserts.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the cutter body is fully de-energized and the spindle is locked before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure — do not over-torque the screw, as this can fracture the insert or damage the cutter pocket. Inspect the insert seat and clamping screw for debris or wear before seating a new insert.
