Product Description

The SANDVIK COROMANT 6868249 is a CCMT432-KR 3225 turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This solid carbide insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability suited for moderate to high cutting speeds. The 80-degree diamond shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry, while the KR chip breaker controls chip flow during continuous and interrupted cuts. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard CCMT toolholders. It is sized at a 1/2-inch inscribed circle with a 3/16-inch insert thickness and a 1/32-inch corner radius.

This insert is intended for turning cast iron workpieces in production and job-shop environments, corresponding to ISO material group K. The CoroTurn 107 series targets external turning with screw-clamped toolholders. Applications include finish and semi-finish turning where consistent surface quality and predictable tool life are required. The maximum depth of cut is 12.10 mm. This insert is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units, making it suitable for shop stock replenishment or production line use by machining professionals and CNC operators.

Key Features

  • CVD-coated with TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN layers for wear resistance on cast iron
  • 80-degree diamond insert shape with rounded cutting edge style for strength and versatility
  • KR chip breaker geometry controls chip evacuation during turning
  • 1/32-inch corner radius suits semi-finish to finish turning applications
  • Screw-clamped insert holding method for secure, repeatable seating in CCMT toolholders
  • Two cutting edges per insert extend usable tool life per unit

Compatibility

Designed for use in screw-clamped CCMT-style toolholders within the CoroTurn 107 series. ISO code CCMT 12 04 08-KR 3225 defines the insert geometry and grade for cross-referencing with compatible toolholder catalogs.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by CNC machinists and tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturers specified torque; do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert or damage the pocket seat. Inspect the toolholder pocket for debris or wear before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
