The SANDVIK COROMANT 6851264 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC lathe and turning center applications. This insert carries the CNGG 43.30-SGF geometry with an 80-degree diamond shape, a 0.10 mm corner radius, and a neutral hand orientation. The 1115 grade features a TiAlN and AlCr2O3 dual-layer PVD coating, providing heat resistance and wear protection during interrupted and continuous cuts. The SGF chip breaker is engineered for sharp-edge cutting performance, making this insert well suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes on difficult-to-machine alloys. It is installed and replaced by machinists and CNC tooling technicians working in precision manufacturing environments.
This insert is intended for turning operations on stainless steel as the primary workpiece material, with secondary suitability for superalloys and titanium. These material families are common in aerospace, medical device, oil and gas, and food processing applications. The T-Max P series designation indicates compatibility with Sandvik Coromant T-Max P style toolholders that accept CNGG-style inserts with clamp and pin holding methods. With four cutting edges available per insert, it offers multiple indexing positions before replacement.
Designed for use in T-Max P series toolholders accepting CNGG-style inserts with clamp and pin holding methods. Primary workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO material code M); secondary workpiece materials include superalloys and titanium (ISO material code S).
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and spindle locked. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten the clamp screw. Inspect the seating pocket and pin for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Follow your facility safety procedures and machine tool manufacturer guidelines when changing cutting inserts.
