The SANDVIK COROMANT 6633717 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for use in 880-series indexable drilling systems. Manufactured in the 4334 grade with a CVD-applied TiCN/Al2O3/TiN multilayer coating, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding metal-cutting applications. It features a square shape with an 8.9 mm (0.3504 inch) inscribed circle, a 0.1181-inch thickness, and a 0.80 mm (0.0315-inch) corner radius. The GR chipbreaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation during through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is suited for indexable drilling operations in steel, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials where CVD-coated carbide grades perform reliably. It installs as a replaceable cutting edge in compatible 880-series drill bodies, making it appropriate for both high-volume production drilling and precision hole-making in commercial machining environments. The right-hand cutting direction and square insert style position this insert for standard rotating-tool or static-tool drilling setups on CNC machining centers and lathes.
Designed as a replacement cutting insert for SANDVIK COROMANT 880-series indexable drill bodies accepting square-style inserts with an 8.9 mm inscribed circle and insert size 050308. Confirm drill body seat specifications before installation.
Insert replacement is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before removing or seating any indexable insert. Use the correct torx or hex key to the seat screw — do not over-torque the clamping screw, as carbide inserts are brittle and seat damage is possible. Inspect the pocket seating surface and shim for wear or debris before installing a new insert.
