The SANDVIK COROMANT 6633701 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for use in modular indexable drill systems. This insert features a parallelogram shape with the 880GR chipbreaker geometry and is manufactured to grade 4334, a CVD-coated substrate with a TiCN/Al2O3/TiN multilayer coating for wear resistance in demanding drilling applications. The inscribed circle measures 4.80 mm (0.1890 inches), with a thickness of 0.0866 inches and a corner radius of 0.40 mm. It is intended for right-hand cutting direction. Machinists and tooling specialists install this insert in compatible 880-series drill bodies as part of precision metal-cutting operations.
This insert is suited for industrial machining environments where consistent hole quality and tool life are required. The 880GR chipbreaker geometry is optimized for chip control during through-hole and blind-hole drilling in a range of workpiece materials. Typical applications include production drilling on CNC machining centers and turning centers. The CVD multilayer coating adds thermal resistance and reduces built-up edge, making this insert appropriate for both steel and cast iron drilling at moderate-to-high cutting parameters.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for 880-series indexable drill bodies accepting parallelogram-style inserts with an 010204 insert size designation. Confirm pocket dimensions and seating geometry against the drill body specification before installation.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before accessing the insert pocket. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key driver to the torque specification listed in the drill body documentation — do not use impact tools on insert clamping screws. Inspect the insert pocket seat for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and prevent premature edge failure.
