The SANDVIK COROMANT 6626824 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for use in indexable insert drills where precision and wear resistance are critical. Built to the 880 insert style with a GR chipbreaker, this insert carries a manufacturer grade of 4324 and features a CVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 coating for high-temperature resistance and extended tool life. The square insert shape measures 0.2008 inches (5.10 mm) inscribed circle diameter, with a thickness of 0.0945 inches and a corner radius of 0.0197 inches (0.5 mm). It is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians in CNC drilling operations requiring close-tolerance hole production.
This insert is suited for indexable drill applications in metalworking environments, including production machining of steel and cast materials where CVD coatings provide thermal and abrasion protection. The GR chipbreaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations. The insert size designation is 020205, and the hole diameter is 2.2 mm. It is packaged individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units, making it appropriate for shop stock replenishment or tooling room inventory programs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for indexable insert drills accepting the 880 insert style, square shape, size 020205, with a 2.2 mm hole diameter. Verify drill body insert pocket specifications before installation.
Indexable drill inserts are installed and replaced by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before accessing the insert pocket. Use the correct torx or hex key to the insert screw without over-torquing, as carbide inserts are brittle and will crack under excessive clamping force. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert.
