The SANDVIK COROMANT 6508765 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ISO designation N123G2-0300-0003-GM 4325 and belongs to the CoroCut 1-2 series. The insert features a multi-layer MT-CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted cuts and continuous grooving passes. With a 3.00 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 18.2 mm, it handles a broad range of groove profiles. The GE 4325 grade is suited for steel and stainless steel applications at moderate to high cutting speeds. A licensed machinist or CNC operator installs this insert at the machine.
This insert is used in external grooving, parting, and face grooving applications on lathes and turning centers in both production and job-shop environments. The neutral hand orientation allows mounting in standard CoroCut 1-2 toolholders without left- or right-hand restrictions. A 0.30 mm corner radius and a GM chip breaker geometry make it appropriate for general-purpose grooving in steels and similar workpiece materials. The CoroCut 1-2 series is commonly found in high-volume turning cells as well as smaller manual-turret setups. Maximum depth of cut range runs from 10.00 mm to 20.00 mm, giving operators flexibility across multiple groove-depth requirements without changing insert style.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT CoroCut 1-2 series toolholders that accept size G inserts with a 3.00 mm seat. Consult the CoroCut 1-2 toolholder catalog to confirm seat size G compatibility before ordering.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine fully stopped and the spindle locked out per shop lockout-tagout procedures. Use the correct Torx or insert-clamping key specified for the CoroCut 1-2 toolholder to seat the insert without overtightening the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination can cause insert rocking and premature edge failure. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping procedure — do not substitute fasteners.
