The SANDVIK COROMANT 6427445 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CoroCut QD series, designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC turning centers and lathes. This neutral-hand insert carries the QDNJ0500-0004-TF 1125 designation and features a dual PVD coating of TiCrAlN and TiAlN for improved wear resistance and thermal stability. The manufacturer grade 1125 targets a broad range of workpiece materials. With a maximum depth of cut of 3.50 mm and a 7-degree relief angle, it suits demanding cut-off and groove profiling work where edge integrity and surface finish are critical. Installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for use across multiple workpiece material categories, including cast iron, stainless steel, carbon and alloy steels, and heat-resistant superalloys, corresponding to ISO material groups K, M, P, and S. The CoroCut QD system is commonly used in medium to high-volume turning applications where consistent chip control and insert security are required. The neutral hand orientation allows fitment in holders configured for straight cut-off or symmetrical grooving operations without lateral rake bias.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroCut QD series toolholders and blade systems that accept QDNJ insert style with size code 050000. Specific holder compatibility should be verified against the current CoroCut QD toolholder assortment using the ISO code QDNJ05000004TF1125.
Insert replacement and seating should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Ensure the insert pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Torque clamping screws according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications for the CoroCut QD system. Verify insert seating and runout before resuming cutting operations.
