The SANDVIK COROMANT 6427418 is a solid carbide cutoff insert from the CoroCut QD series, designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a 4 mm (0.1575 inches) cutting width, a neutral lead angle, and a 7-degree relief angle. The insert is finished with a PVD-applied TiCrAlN and TiAlN dual coating, which provides heat resistance and extended edge life in interrupted cuts and continuous parting. The QD-style clamp-holding method ensures rigid seating under high radial forces. Machinists and toolroom technicians working in production turning will find this insert suited for consistent, repeatable cutoff performance on a range of workpiece materials.
This insert is used in turning and parting applications on production CNC lathes and manual lathes equipped with CoroCut QD-compatible toolholders. The H insert seat size and QD insert style define the holder compatibility. Typical install scenarios include high-volume bar-fed cutoff work and groove turning where chip control and edge stability are priorities. The CR chipbreaker geometry is selected for controlled chip formation during parting. This insert ships individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order.
Designed for use with CoroCut QD series toolholders accepting an H insert seat size and QD insert style. Refer to the manufacturer catalog number QD-NH-0400-0003-CR 1125 when cross-referencing holder compatibility in SANDVIK COROMANT tooling catalogs.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician following the toolholder manufacturer torque and clamping procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing inserts. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for chips or debris before seating the new insert, as contamination can cause insert rocking and premature edge failure. Do not use damaged or deformed clamp screws, as proper clamping force is critical to insert stability during parting operations.
