The SANDVIK COROMANT 6289923 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for use in Series 419 milling cutters. It carries the manufacturer grade 2040 and features a multilayer CVD coating of TiCrN, Al2O3, and TiN, providing wear resistance and thermal protection during interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert has a pentagon shape with five cutting edges, a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, and a corner radius of 3.00 mm (0.1181 inches). Thickness measures 5.47 mm (0.2154 inches) and the inscribed circle diameter is 13.50 mm (0.5315 inches). A screw-held mounting method and SM chip breaker geometry are standard. This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, and S. Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before torquing the clamping screw; use the manufacturer-specified torque driver for Series 419 toolholders. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or damage before each insert change to ensure accurate seating and runout control.
