The SANDVIK COROMANT 6227410 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for use in indexable drill tooling systems requiring the 880 insert style. Carrying the MS chipbreaker geometry and manufacturer grade 2044, this insert features a TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating applied via PVD process, providing thermal resistance and wear protection during interrupted and continuous drilling operations. The inscribed circle measures 4.80 mm (0.189 inches), thickness is 0.0866 inches, and the corner radius is 0.4 mm (0.0157 inches). The parallelogram shape and insert size designation 010204 are consistent with SANDVIK COROMANT 880-series drill body seating requirements. This insert is suited for drilling applications in steel, stainless steel, and similar materials where PVD-coated carbide grades are specified. Insert replacement should be performed by qualified tooling technicians with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a locked-out state per applicable LOTO procedures. Inspect the insert pocket for chips, debris, or seat damage before indexing or replacing inserts. Do not use damaged or improperly seated inserts, as this can affect bore geometry and cause premature tool body wear.
