The SANDVIK COROMANT 6198199 is a DNMG431-MMC 2025 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection across a range of cutting conditions. With a 55-degree diamond shape, a 0.5946-inch insert length, and a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle, this insert fits standard DNMG toolholders using clamp and pin holding methods. It is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments.
This insert is engineered primarily for turning stainless steel workpieces, identified under ISO material code M. The MMC chip breaker geometry is suited for medium cutting conditions where controlled chip formation is critical. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with a wide range of DNMG-style toolholders. It carries the ISO designation DNMG 15 04 04-MMC 2025 and belongs to the SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series, which is designed for external and internal turning applications in both roughing and finishing passes on difficult-to-machine materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use insert for DNMG-style toolholders accepting a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch thick insert with clamp and pin holding. ISO designation DNMG 15 04 04-MMC 2025 should be used to confirm toolholder compatibility before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup personnel. Always power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the insert. Inspect the insert seat and clamp components for wear or debris before seating a new insert to avoid seating errors that can cause premature edge failure.
