The SANDVIK COROMANT 6071746 is a carbide threading insert designed for external thread-turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Designated under the ISO code MATR 3 60-A 1105, it carries a TiAlN finish applied via PVD coating, which provides wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. The insert covers a pitch range of 0.35 to 1.00 mm and 24 to 72 TPI, making it suitable for a broad range of external thread profiles. It belongs to the CoroCut XS series, sized for smaller-diameter and precision threading work. The 1105 grade is a PVD-coated carbide grade suited to threading in steel and stainless steel.
This insert is intended for external threading on small-diameter workpieces in precision machining environments. It produces a 60-degree V-thread profile and is right-hand configured. Typical applications include threading steel, stainless steel, and similar materials on Swiss-type, small-part turning, and conventional CNC turning setups. The CoroCut XS platform is built for tight-clearance and small-part work where insert size and rigidity matter. Machinists and CNC operators in production shops, job shops, and tool rooms are the primary users of this insert.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT CoroCut XS toolholders that accept MATR 3 60-A style inserts. Confirm holder compatibility using the ISO code MATR 3 60-A 1105 and insert size 3 specifications before ordering.
Threading inserts of this type are installed and changed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing any insert. Use the correct torx or clamping key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to achieve proper seating force — do not overtighten by hand estimate. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before installing a fresh insert.
