The SANDVIK COROMANT 6035717 is a replaceable-tip drill body from the CoroDrill 870 series, designed for precision hole-making in metalworking and machining applications. It accepts 870-1790-17-PM insert tips at insert seat size 17, covering a drill diameter range of 17.00 to 17.99 mm (0.6693 to 0.7083 inches). The steel body measures 162 mm (6.378 inches) overall length with a flute length of 109.27 mm (4.302 inches). Through-coolant capability is built in, supporting extended tool life and chip evacuation in deep-hole operations. This tool is installed and set up by machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production facilities, and aerospace or general engineering environments.
The 6035717 fits the CoroDrill 870 toolholder style 870 LX-5 with a straight-cylindrical shank. It delivers a maximum drill depth of 92.69 mm (3.649 inches), placing it in the 5xD depth-to-diameter ratio category. This makes it well suited for through-hole and blind-hole applications where depth-to-diameter ratios in the 80 mm to 100 mm range are required. The replaceable-tip design reduces downtime by allowing tip changes at the machine without removing the drill body from the spindle.
Designed for use with 870-1790-17-PM insert tips at insert seat size 17. Compatible with the CoroDrill 870 toolholder style 870 LX-5. Intended for use in CNC machining centers and drilling machines accepting straight-cylindrical shank drill bodies.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the machine placed in a safe, locked-out state before inserting or removing the drill body or changing replaceable tips. Use the appropriate torque wrench and toolholder seating procedures specified by the machining center manufacturer when clamping the straight-cylindrical shank. Verify through-coolant connections are clear and flow is confirmed before beginning a drilling cycle.
