The SANDVIK COROMANT 6035669 is a replaceable-tip drill body from the CoroDrill 870 series, engineered for precision hole-making in metalworking and machining applications. The drill body accepts 870-1490-14-PM inserts at insert seat size 14, allowing fast tip changes without removing the body from the spindle. It covers a drill diameter range of 14 to 14.99 mm (0.5512 to 0.5902 inches) with a maximum drill depth of 47.27 mm (1.86 inches), representing a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio. Through-coolant capability is built in, directing cutting fluid directly to the tip for heat control and chip evacuation. The steel body uses a 20 mm straight-cylindrical shank and measures 116 mm overall length. Installed by machinists and CNC operators in production turning, milling, or dedicated drill press setups.
This drill body is suited for medium-diameter hole production in ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials where repeatable accuracy and fast insert indexing are priorities. The CoroDrill 870 platform is commonly deployed in high-volume production environments on CNC machining centers and turning centers. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard 20 mm toolholder bores. The through-coolant feature supports higher feed rates and extended insert life, making this body a fit for continuous-run production cycles rather than light intermittent use. It is sold as a single body; compatible inserts are ordered separately.
Designed for use with 870-1490-14-PM replaceable-tip inserts, insert seat size 14, in the CoroDrill 870 series platform using the 870 L-3 toolholder style. Insert tips are not included and must be ordered separately.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before inserting or removing the drill body from the toolholder. Ensure the straight-cylindrical shank is fully seated and clamped to the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping torque before operation. Verify through-coolant passages are clear and coolant supply is connected before initiating a cut cycle.
