The SANDVIK COROMANT 6035662 is a replaceable-tip drill body from the CoroDrill 870 series, designed for precision hole-making in metalworking and machining applications. It accepts 870-1390-13-PM insert tips at a size 13 seat, covering a drilling diameter range of 13.5 to 13.99 mm (0.5315 to 0.5508 inches). The steel body measures 108 mm (4.252 inches) overall length with a maximum drill depth of 44.13 mm (1.7374 inches), placing it in the 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio category. Through-coolant capability is integrated into the body for chip evacuation and heat management at the cutting zone. This tool body is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments.
The 6035662 drill body is suited for general-purpose drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals on CNC machining centers and turning centers equipped with driven tooling. Its straight-cylindrical shank style accommodates standard toolholder configurations using the 870 LX-3 toolholder style. The replaceable-tip design eliminates the need to replace the entire drill body when the cutting edge wears, reducing per-hole tooling cost in medium-to-high volume production runs. Compatible insert tips are ordered separately under style 870-1390-13-PM.
This drill body is compatible with 870-1390-13-PM replaceable insert tips and is designed for use with the 870 LX-3 toolholder style. It is part of the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroDrill 870 series platform.
Installation and setup should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with CNC toolholder assembly procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is placed in a safe state before changing insert tips or mounting the drill body. Seat the replaceable tip fully and verify proper torque per the toolholder manufacturer documentation before initiating a cut. Through-coolant supply lines should be confirmed active and unobstructed prior to drilling operations to prevent premature insert wear and chip packing.
