The SANDVIK COROMANT 5915111 is a TNMG432-SM 1105 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal on CNC and manual lathes. Coated with TiAlN via a PVD process, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding cutting applications. The triangular insert shape provides 6 cutting edges per insert, and the SM chip breaker geometry is engineered for controlled chip formation in difficult-to-machine materials. At 0.252 inches in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0313-inch corner radius, it fits standard TNMG toolholders. Installation and setup is handled by machining professionals in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for turning stainless steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary applications in superalloys and titanium. The SM chip breaker geometry is specifically selected for materials that work-harden or produce stringy chips, making it a practical choice for aerospace, medical, and energy-sector component machining. It is part of the SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series and carries ISO designation TNMG 22 04 08-SM 1105. The neutral hand orientation allows use in both right-hand and left-hand toolholder configurations.
Designed for use in TNMG-style toolholders within the SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series. Compatible with standard TNMG 432 insert pockets using clamp and pin holding. Suitable for turning stainless steel (ISO material group M) and superalloys and titanium (ISO material group S).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is securely mounted before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or clamp screw as specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for wear or debris before seating a new edge.
