The SANDVIK COROMANT 5915101 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TNMG332-SM geometry, designed for precision metal turning on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, this insert is built for thermal resistance and extended tool life under demanding cutting conditions. The 60-degree triangular shape provides six usable cutting edges per insert, maximizing value per unit. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 0.1890-inch insert length, and a 1/32-inch (0.0313-inch) corner radius, this insert fits standard TNMG toolholders using clamp or pin holding methods. It is a neutral-hand insert suited for general turning operations where a consistent edge geometry is required.
This insert is engineered for primary use on stainless steel workpieces and is also rated for secondary applications in superalloys and titanium — material types that demand sharp, wear-resistant cutting edges and reliable chip control. The SM chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium finishing to light roughing passes where chip management and surface finish consistency are priorities. It fits within the T-Max P series toolholder system and is appropriate for shops running production turning on aerospace, medical, and process industry components. Licensed machinists and CNC operators handling difficult-to-machine materials will find this insert well-suited for controlled-depth finishing cuts.
Designed for use with TNMG-style toolholders in the T-Max P series. ISO code TNMG 16 04 08-SM 1105 can be used to verify toolholder and insert pocket compatibility. Accepts clamp or pin holding methods.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the insert — do not overtighten or use improvised tools. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new edge, as contamination affects edge stability and surface finish.
