The SANDVIK COROMANT 5915076 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC lathe and turning center applications. Designated DNMG442-SM 1105, this insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and carries a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process for improved wear resistance and thermal stability. The insert measures 0.252 inches in length with a 0.500-inch inscribed circle, a 0.250-inch thickness, and a corner radius of 0.031 inches. It is part of the T-Max P series and targets stainless steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary capability on superalloys and titanium. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible toolholders for general turning and finishing operations.
This insert is optimized for cutting stainless steel in both roughing and finishing passes where edge stability and coating durability are critical. The SM chip breaker geometry is engineered to control chip formation in tough, work-hardening materials such as austenitic stainless steels, superalloys, and titanium alloys. Typical applications include turning shafts, flanges, and cylindrical components in aerospace, medical, and industrial manufacturing environments. The DNMG insert style allows secure clamping via clamp and pin holding methods, supporting stable, repeatable cuts across long production runs.
Designed to fit toolholders accepting DNMG-style inserts with a 0.500-inch inscribed circle and clamp-and-pin holding method. Compatible with SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series toolholders and other DNMG-compatible turning systems conforming to ISO code DNMG 15 06 08-SM 1105.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Shut down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket locating surfaces before engaging the clamp and pin to prevent micro-movement during cutting. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for chips or debris before each installation to maintain proper clamping force and edge positioning.
