The SANDVIK COROMANT 5907011 is a laydown threading insert in the CoroThread 266 series, designed for cutting internal NPT threads in precision machining applications. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide and features a PVD-applied TiCrAlN/TiN coating for extended tool life and wear resistance. It cuts right-hand internal threads at 11.5 threads per inch (TPI) with a 60-degree included angle and a single tooth per side. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inches and the insert thickness is 5/32 inches. Insert style is 266, size code 16, grade 1135, with a C chipbreaker geometry. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on CNC lathes and threading centers.
This insert is suited for threading operations requiring NPT taper thread profiles in internal bores. The NPT standard is common in pipe fitting and fluid-system component manufacturing across industrial, HVAC, plumbing, and hydraulic applications. The CoroThread 266 platform is a laydown-style insert system designed for rigid, reliable threading with consistent thread form on production runs. The C chipbreaker geometry aids chip control in moderate to light feed threading passes on ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroThread 266 series threading toolholders that accept size 16 laydown inserts. Verify toolholder seat style and insert pocket configuration before installation.
Threading inserts should be installed by qualified machinists familiar with indexable insert tooling and CNC lathe or threading center operation. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten or substitute fasteners. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before each insert change.
