The SANDVIK COROMANT 5906810 is a CNMG-style indexable turning insert in the T-Max P series, manufactured from solid carbide and coated with TiAlN and AlCr2O3 via a PVD coating process. It features an 80-degree diamond insert shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a corner radius of 3/64 inches (0.0469 inches decimal). The inscribed circle measures 5/8 inches (0.6250 inches), and insert length is 0.4173 inches with a thickness of 1/4 inches (0.2500 inches). The SM chip breaker geometry is engineered for controlled chip evacuation in demanding cutting operations. This insert is specified for use by machinists and CNC turning professionals requiring consistent performance on difficult-to-machine materials.
This insert is designed primarily for turning stainless steel and is also rated for secondary workpiece materials including superalloys and titanium. It fits into the T-Max P toolholder system and is held by clamp and pin methods. With four cutting edges per insert, it is suited for external and internal turning operations in production and job-shop environments where ISO grade M and S materials are encountered. The ISO designation for this insert is CNMG 16 06 12-SM 1125, which can be used for cross-referencing within ISO-compliant toolholder systems.
Designed for use with T-Max P series toolholders accepting CNMG 543 inserts with clamp and pin holding. ISO designation CNMG 16 06 12-SM 1125 applies for cross-referencing compatible holders within ISO-standard turning systems.
Installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered off and spindle locked. Use a torque wrench appropriate for the toolholder clamping screw to avoid over-torquing the insert seat. Inspect the insert pocket and shim seat for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping instructions and applicable shop safety procedures when changing inserts on live tooling or turret-style lathes.
