The SANDVIK COROMANT 5857563 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert engineered for external Stub Acme thread cutting. Part of the CoroThread 266 series, it carries a PVD-applied TiCrAlN/TiN coating that resists heat and wear across demanding threading operations. The insert is designed for right-hand cutting at 10 threads per inch, with a 3/8 inch (9.53 mm) inscribed circle and a thickness of 5/32 inch (3.97 mm). The 60-degree included angle, F chipbreaker, and single-tooth-per-side geometry make this insert well suited for controlled chip formation during external thread profiling on CNC lathes and turning centers.
This insert is intended for use in metalworking applications where Stub Acme external threads must be machined to consistent form and finish. Typical environments include production turning operations in job shops and manufacturing facilities. The CoroThread 266 series is designed for use with compatible Sandvik Coromant CoroThread 266 toolholders. Machinists working with threaded lead screws, power transmission components, and linear actuation hardware are the primary users of this insert geometry. The 1135 grade and PVD coating combination targets a broad range of workpiece materials commonly encountered in general machining.
Designed for use with compatible SANDVIK COROMANT CoroThread 266 series toolholders accepting 16-size laydown threading inserts with Stub Acme external thread geometry.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be stopped and all stored energy released before indexing or replacing threading inserts. Use the appropriate torx or clamping key specified for CoroThread 266 toolholder seats to secure the insert without over-torquing the clamping screw. Verify thread form with a gauge after first-pass cuts before proceeding to full production runs.
