The SANDVIK COROMANT 5782030 is a laydown threading insert designed for internal thread cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the CoroThread 266 series, this solid carbide insert carries a TiCrAlN/TiN PVD coating for wear resistance and heat management during high-speed threading passes. It cuts a 60-degree V thread profile with a right-hand orientation and covers a thread pitch range of 12 to 24 TPI (1.00 to 2.00 mm). The 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 5/32-inch thickness conform to the 266RL-16VM01A001M geometry designation with manufacturer grade 1135. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible CoroThread 266 toolholders for precision internal threading on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces.
This insert is suited for internal threading applications in production machining environments, including job shops and manufacturing facilities running CNC turning equipment. The 60-degree V thread standard covers the most common unified and metric thread forms used in general mechanical assembly. The chipbreaker style A geometry supports consistent chip control across the supported pitch range. Typical workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, and cast iron where the TiCrAlN/TiN coating provides thermal and oxidation resistance at the cutting edge.
Designed for use in CoroThread 266 series toolholders that accept the 266RL-16VM01A001M insert geometry. Verify toolholder seat and clamping compatibility before installation.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torque screwdriver or insert key specified for the CoroThread 266 toolholder to seat the insert without cracking the carbide substrate. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and alignment.
