The SANDVIK COROMANT 5782015 is a laydown threading insert designed for internal UN thread cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the CoroThread 266 series, it features a solid carbide substrate with a PVD-applied TiCrAlN/TiN coating for extended tool life in demanding threading operations. The insert produces right-hand internal UN threads at 8 threads per inch (TPI) with a 60-degree included angle. The 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 5/32-inch thickness conform to standard 266-series toolholder geometry. Typical users include machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments working on threaded bores in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This insert is suited for internal threading operations on lathes equipped with CoroThread 266-compatible toolholders. The single-tooth-per-side profile allows precise thread form control, making it appropriate for tight-tolerance UN threaded bores in production runs and prototype work. The A chipbreaker geometry supports controlled chip flow in through and blind-hole applications. The PVD TiCrAlN/TiN coating provides wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of cutting conditions.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroThread 266-series toolholders accepting size 16 laydown threading inserts. Verify toolholder insert pocket and clamping screw specifications before installation.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and in a safe, locked-out state. Use the appropriate Torx or insert-clamping key to seat the insert fully in the pocket without over-torquing the clamping screw. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or wear before seating a new insert. Refer to the toolholder manufacturer's recommended cutting data for feed rate and depth-of-cut parameters when threading.
