The SANDVIK COROMANT 5781924 is a laydown threading insert designed for external UN thread cutting at 32 threads per inch (TPI). Part of the CoroThread 266 series, it is manufactured from solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiCrAlN and TiAlN dual coating for wear resistance and extended tool life in demanding thread-turning applications. The insert features a right-hand cutting orientation and a 60-degree included angle standard to unified external threading. It carries an inscribed circle diameter of 3/8 inches and a thickness of 5/32 inches (0.1563 inches). This insert is installed by machinists and CNC lathe operators on threading toolholders configured for the CoroThread 266 system.
The 5781924 is suited for external UN thread turning on CNC lathes and manual turning centers in production and job-shop environments. The grade 1125 carbide substrate with PVD coating is appropriate for threading steel, alloy steel, and similar materials where a sharp, durable edge is required. The single-tooth-per-side geometry and A chipbreaker designation support clean thread profiles. It is sold with a minimum order quantity of 10 units, with packaging in individual quantities of 1, making it suitable for toolcrib stocking and production replenishment.
Designed for use with CoroThread 266 series threading toolholders that accept insert style 266 with size code 16. Refer to the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroThread 266 toolholder catalog to confirm holder compatibility before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing the insert. Use the correct torx or insert-clamp key specified for the CoroThread 266 toolholder to secure the insert without over-tightening. Verify thread form, TPI, and hand orientation against the job drawing before starting the cut.
