The SANDVIK COROMANT 5781748 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the CCGW21.51S0330F 7015 designation, this insert features an 80-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code C), a 7-degree relief angle (Clearance Code C), and a Tolerance Code G for tight dimensional control. The manufacturer grade is 7015 with a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating applied via PVD process, which improves surface hardness and wear resistance. With a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0156-inch (1/64 inch) corner radius, it is suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes. Installation is via screw-hold (Torx or equivalent per machine spec). The insert is neutral hand, making it usable in both left- and right-hand toolholders where geometry allows.
This insert is rated for hard material workpieces (ISO Primary Workpiece Material Code H), including hardened steels and hard-to-machine alloys common in aerospace, die-mold, and precision component manufacturing. It belongs to the CoroTurn 107 series, which is engineered for positive-geometry, screw-clamped toolholding systems. With only 2 cutting edges and a W chip breaker geometry, it is optimized for controlled chip formation during light-to-medium depth finishing operations. Machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops or production environments will find it applicable to close-tolerance external and internal turning where surface finish is critical.
Designed for use with CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamped toolholding systems. ISO designation CCGW060204S01030F 7015 may be used to cross-reference compatible toolholders and confirm fitment in machine tool catalogs.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct Torx or insert-clamping key specified for the toolholder to achieve proper seating torque without stripping the screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert to ensure repeatable tool geometry.
