The SANDVIK COROMANT 5765677 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for use with compatible 880-series indexable drills. This insert carries the 2044 manufacturer grade and features a PVD-applied TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating for wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The square insert shape uses a 5.10 mm (0.2008 inches) inscribed circle and a 0.50 mm (0.0197 inches) corner radius. An MS chipbreaker geometry is built into the cutting face to control chip formation during drilling operations. The insert is right-hand cutting and suits high-productivity hole-making applications in metal cutting environments. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a replaceable cutting element in indexable drill bodies.
This insert is suited for indexable drilling operations in production machining environments, including job shops, aerospace component manufacturing, and general metalworking. The 880 insert style and MS chipbreaker geometry are typically applied to drilling in steel and similar workpiece materials where chip control and coating durability are priorities. The 2044 grade with PVD TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating is optimized for dry or minimally lubricated cutting conditions at elevated cutting speeds. Install position and insert size designation 02P are specific to 880-series drill body pockets of corresponding dimensions.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT 880-series indexable drill bodies that accept insert size 02P square-pocket inserts with a 2.20 mm hole diameter. Specific drill body compatibility should be verified against the 880-series tooling catalog before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing any insert. Use the correct torx or insert-clamping key specified by the drill body manufacturer to secure the insert — do not use substitute tools. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper seating and runout.
