The SANDVIK COROMANT 5765278 is an indexable insert drill designed for precise hole-making in metal fabrication and machining operations. This drill body accepts two indexable inserts and operates on a straight cylindrical shank, fitting into standard toolholders used in CNC machining centers and lathes with live tooling. Built from steel, the body delivers rigidity during interrupted and continuous cutting cycles. Key dimensional specs include a 17 mm maximum drill diameter, a 37.4 mm maximum drill depth, and a 20 mm shank diameter. Internal coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and tool life in deep-hole applications. The drill is right-hand cutting and follows a 2xD depth-to-diameter ratio.
This drill body suits production machining environments where repeatable hole quality and fast insert changeover are priorities. It is used in shops running ferrous and non-ferrous materials that require consistent bore diameters in the 17 mm range. The coolant-through design makes it well suited for applications where chip packing is a concern. Machinists and CNC programmers working with CoroDrill 880-series tooling will find this body compatible with the 880..L-02 drill style insert system. It is sold as a single body without inserts.
Compatible with 880..L-02 drill style indexable inserts. Designed for use within the CoroDrill 880 series tooling system. Insert size is 2.60 mm. Verify insert grade and geometry selection based on workpiece material prior to use.
Installation is performed by machining technicians or CNC setup personnel. Secure the shank in a clean, properly sized toolholder and torque clamping screws to the toolholder specification before use. Confirm coolant-through passages are clear and coolant pressure is within machine specifications before starting the spindle. Always index or replace inserts with the spindle fully stopped and power isolated from the machine axis.
