The SANDVIK COROMANT 5764580 is a left-hand modular grooving head designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC turning centers and lathes. Part of the CoroCut 1-2 series, this cutting head attaches to a compatible modular shank interface at system size 32, providing a rigid, repeatable connection for precision groove work. It accepts N123 size E inserts, specifically the N123E2-0200-GM, and features through-coolant capability to extend insert life and improve chip evacuation in demanding cuts. The head delivers a maximum depth of cut of approximately 0.094 inches (2.39 mm) and a center-to-cutting-edge distance of 1.4705 inches (37.35 mm).
This modular grooving head is suited for production turning environments where quick head changes and consistent tool geometry are required. The left-hand cutting direction makes it appropriate for specific groove orientations and machine configurations where a right-hand approach is not feasible. It supports groove widths from approximately 0.073 inches (1.85 mm) minimum up to 0.5906 inches (15.00 mm) maximum, covering a broad range of groove profiles. Machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, automotive, aerospace, and general manufacturing will find this head applicable to steel, stainless, and cast iron grooving applications when paired with the appropriate N123 insert grade.
Designed for use with CoroCut 1-2 series system size 32 modular shanks. Compatible insert style is N123, size code E; complete insert compatibility reference is N123E2-0200-GM. Verify shank interface size and cutting direction against machine and program requirements before ordering.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a safe, locked-out state per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Torque the modular head to the shank interface using the toolmaker's specified interface fasteners only - do not substitute hardware. Confirm through-coolant passages are clear and the coolant supply is connected before resuming cutting operations. Always verify insert seating and clamping integrity before initiating a cut.
